Soffit and fascia work in Smyrna and metro Atlanta
Fascia is the board along the roof edge. Soffit is the panel under the eave. Together they close the gap between roof and wall, and they take a lot of weather for parts of the house nobody looks at.
Because we work on roofs, we look at them the way a roofer does. Rotted trim is usually a symptom, and the cause tends to be up at the roof edge or in the gutter.
What goes wrong
Rot along the fascia
Gutters that overflow keep the board wet. Paint peels first, and then the wood goes soft.
Sagging gutters
Fascia carries the gutters. When it softens, the fasteners lose their grip and the gutter pulls away.
Animals in the eaves
Squirrels and birds use any gap in the soffit as a door into the attic.
Blocked attic airflow
Vented soffit lets the attic breathe. Damaged or painted-over vents can trap heat and moisture.
Fix the cause, then the trim
New fascia under the same bad drip edge or overflowing gutter will rot the same way. We check the roof edge and gutters first and tell you if they are part of the problem.
