Looking down a shingle roof from the ridge

Know what your roof needs before spending a dollar

A free, documented inspection with photos you keep. If the roof is fine, we tell you it is fine and leave. That is the whole pitch.

What’s included

What the inspection covers

This is the same inspection we run before quoting any job, which is exactly why it is free. We want the roof documented as much as you do.

After a storm? How claims work
  1. Hill Top technician in a harness walking the roof

    Look

    01
    • Every surface, walked

Shingles, ridges, valleys, penetrations and flashing, on the roof, not from the driveway with binoculars.

    • Attic and decking check

Where there is access, we look at the underside for staining, daylight and soft decking the surface hides.

  2. Close-up of architectural shingles

    Document

    02
    • Photos of every finding

Hail hits, wind creases, exposed nails, aging seals. All photographed and dated.

    • Insurance-ready records

If a claim is ever in your future, this documentation is the difference between an approval and an argument.

  3. Ranch home with a finished shingle roof

    Advise

    03
    • A straight recommendation

Repair, replace, or leave it alone. Including "do nothing," which we recommend more often than you might expect.

How it works

How the free inspection works

About as complicated as scheduling a haircut, and it costs less.

  1. Step 1 of 4

    Pick a time

Call or use the estimate form. You do not need to be home for the roof, only for the walkthrough if you want one.

  2. Step 2 of 4

    We inspect

Roof surface, flashing, penetrations, and the attic where accessible. Photographed as we go.

  3. Step 3 of 4

    You get the report

Photos and plain-language findings, yours to keep whether you ever hire us or not.

  4. Step 4 of 4

    You decide

If work is worth doing we quote it in writing. If it is not, we say so and you file the report away.

Straight answers

What it costs and what you walk away with

The inspection is the product. Here is what is in the box.

  • $0

    Free, no strings

No trip fee, no report fee, no obligation to do anything with what we find.

  • Photo report

    Yours to keep

You keep the full documentation, shop it to other roofers if you like. We are fine with the comparison.

  • No pressure

    Handshake, not a pitch

If the roof does not need work, the visit ends with a handshake, not a pitch.

Roof Inspection

Why is it free? What’s the catch?

We inspect before quoting any job anyway, so the inspection costs us a crew hour we were going to spend regardless. Some inspections turn into work for us, many do not. There is no catch and no follow-up call cadence, because we would rather be the roofer you remember when the roof actually needs something.

Do I need to be home?

Not for the roof itself. Plenty of inspections happen while the homeowner is at work, with the report texted over after. Be home if you want to walk the findings together, which we recommend when something needs fixing.

When should I get a roof inspected?

After any hailstorm or serious wind event, before buying or selling a house, and once the roof passes fifteen years old. If none of those apply and nothing is leaking, you can probably wait.

What if you find storm damage?

Then the documentation matters most. We photograph every hit, help you decide whether a claim makes sense, and meet your adjuster on the roof if you file. Our storm damage page covers exactly how that goes.
